Mercury
Dissonant mercurian aspects (non-dominant Mercury)
by Richard Pellard
English translation by Julien Rouger

The interpretation examples that we are suggesting are very far from being exhaustive : they only show and outline a general frame describing the issues of the aspect. They should therefore not be taken literally. Each being brings indeed its own responses, more or less original, to the questions raised by an aspect. There is no magic formula. Through using the R.E.T. and the Theory of Ages and combining logic, observation and imagination, you will be able to develop a thousand other possible meanings, a thousand other variations on the same theme.

Dissonant Mercury-Moon aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Moon ‘p’ ↔ Mercury ‘tR’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when the Moon dominates : you live in such a state of tranquility, well-being and serenity inside the little world of your daydreams that you feel exempted from communicating with the outside world. The power of your habits and the cozy comfort they give you prevent you from varying your points of reference. Receptive to atmospheres, you do not know or cannot listen to the many signs sent to you by the world and its inhabitants. You fear the irruption of gambling or fantasy in the circle of your intimacy, while being bored in your routines. Your memory seems to refuse to integrate messages from the outside : when people try to communicate with you, you do not hear, misunderstand or reinterpret the message according to your subjectivity.

Dissonant Mercury-Sun aspect (conjunction)

Sun ‘rR’ ↔ Mercury ‘tR’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect)

If and when the Sun dominates : anchored in your dogmatic certainties, you are incapable of opening up to a point of view other than your own. You don’t listen, you affirm. Stiff, stilted, tense, frozen in the anxious defense of your principles and ideals, you forbid yourself any fantasy, any levity, any relaxation. The firm guidelines that you impose on yourself are incompatible with crossroads, free distractions, unimportant encounters. Locked in your logic, in your obsession with being impeccable, recognized, admired, considered, you are afraid of abandoning yourself to a refreshing spontaneity which, in your opinion, would make your character lose importance. Totally involved in what you say, you make it a point of honor never to change your mind. The infatuation of your self makes you lose all humor, all critical distance, all sense of derision. You believe it.

Dissonant Mercury-Venus aspect (conjunction, semi-square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Venus ‘eR’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect)

If and when Venus dominates : when you love, when you get attached, you lose all fantasy, all humor, all playful spirit. You take your infatuations, your likes and dislikes, epidermal likes and dislikes extremely seriously. Unable to distance yourself from language, a word touches you, a sentence hurts you, an adjective delights you without you knowing very well why. From your point of view, we do not mess with love. Your privileged relationships, the tender and voluptuous duets that charm your heart develop to the detriment of your curiosity, your spontaneous openness to the diversity of beings and things. Closed to novelty, to the unknown, you only allow yourself to be seduced and tempted by what you have already experienced, which awakens an echo in your sensitivity. Your insatiable and capricious sensoriality makes you deaf to abstractions and incapable of mischief.

Dissonant Mercury-Mars aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Mars ‘eE’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Mars dominates : completely absorbed by what you do, live and experience intensely, you are incapable of the slightest playful or distracting distance. Too frank, awkward, even aggressive, you are not available for any relaxed and relaxed listening : you do not know how or cannot take beings, things and situations lightly. You say and do as you feel, without worrying about being heard. Hence the communication problems that you are tempted to solve hastily : a spade is a spade, and too bad for the nuances and subtleties of language. The duels of existence are not a game, let it be said. Your mechanical and senseless activism, riveted in the immediate, the here-and-now, denies you any curiosity, any forward-looking imagination. You live at close range, in the heart of your situation, obtuse and closed to abstractions, insensitive to interesting novelties, to unexpected and perhaps enriching discoveries for the mind.

Dissonant Mercury-Jupiter aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Jupiter ‘rE’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Jupiter dominates : polarized by your ambitions, your quest for tangible power, or your overly reasonable view of the world, you cannot or do not want to open your mind to anything else. No question for you of useless encounters, of gratuitous curiosities, of marvelous discoveries : it has to pay off, that you derive concrete benefits or obvious usefulness from it. Wanting to be definitive, your sweeping judgments prevent you from any plurality of hypotheses, any change of point of view. By dint of wanting to have the merits of your acts and productions recognized, you tragically forget not to take yourself seriously. Your desire to be an exemplary representative of your group pushes you to blindly sacrifice your individual freedom, your irreverent fantasy, your spontaneity without blinkers. You pontificate at the expense of all humor.

Dissonant Mercury-Saturn aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Saturn ‘tE’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Saturn dominates : Phlegmatic, secretive, austere, rigorous, you repress within yourself all fantasy, all frivolity, all power of wonder. The deep questions that you ask yourself, the doubts that assail you, the obscure truth or the invisible absolute that you seek in the maze of facts and experiences prevent you from relaxation, relaxation and playful carelessness. At worst, you are struck dumb, incommunicable, a prisoner of dark thoughts that you ruminate. Distracted, morose, melancholy, you flee refreshing distractions, corset your prospective imagination in a logico-methodical yoke in which you sometimes suffocate. Cold calculating or eternally distracted, you make new encounters difficult or impossible. Your complicated plans make you unfit for any quick adaptation, any improvisation.

Dissonant Mercury-Uranus aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Uranus ‘rT’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Uranus dominates : Prisoner of your innermost convictions, your self-revealed certainties, your reductive and systematic cerebrality, you are unable to drop your blinkers to open yourself up to the unknown, to points of view other than your own. Authoritarian and sometimes despotic, full of self-confidence, excessively sure of yourself, you impose your intuitions in the form of shocking ideas which seem to prohibit any reply, any questioning, any desacralizing humor. Your overly structured imagination cuts off the wings of prospective imagination within you. Blinded by your excess of specialization, you forbid yourself any gratuitous curiosity. You cut with presumptuousness in the copse of hypotheses. Hyper-tense, tense, obsessed with extreme precision, you cannot stand any relaxation, any fantasy and flee chance encounters where you cannot impose your intolerant and indisputable certainties.

Dissonant Mercury-Neptune aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Neptune ‘eT’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Neptune dominates : you seem locked in the dynamics of your deep sensitivity, a prisoner of the spells of your unconscious, unable to communicate the hazy intuitions that pass through you. Absorbed by your moods, hypnotized by the disturbing and enigmatic song of your inner voices, haunted by the tidal waves that lift you from within, living perpetually in an elsewhere, you lose all openness, all fantasy, all ability to listen. Your deep and visceral adherence to fuzzy ideologies, smoky philosophies carrying deceptive hopes paralyzes your critical sense and your aptitude for discovery. You are hostage to a chaotic memory that indiscriminately mixes dreams, deep aspirations and unverifiable intuitions. You interpret signs and symbols incorrectly, or in an unconsciously biased way.

Dissonant Mercury-Pluto aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Pluto ‘tT’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Pluto dominates : haunted by the gravity and the depth of universal problems or by a desperate feeling of the inanity of all things, you become incapable of imagining new perspectives, of considering with humor and relaxation the world where you live and the beings who live in it. live. Penetrated by the certainty of the inescapable, convinced that deep down, the chips are down and the dice thrown by an overwhelming destiny, you forget the derision. One cannot communicate with this dense, intense, secret and impenetrable being, permanently immersed in your ulterior motives. By dint of telling yourself that all questions are unanswered or that all answers are illusory, you no longer know how to question yourself. Cold and insensitive, you can be tempted by the sneaky manipulations behind the scenes, convinced that you are that individuals are only futile weathervanes that you can poison at your leisure when you know the underside of the cards.

Les significations planétaires

par Richard Pellard

620 pages.
