Mercury
Dissonant mercurian aspects (dominant Mercury)
by Richard Pellard
English translation by Julien Rouger

The interpretation examples that we are suggesting are very far from being exhaustive : they only show and outline a general frame describing the issues of the aspect. They should therefore not be taken literally. Each being brings indeed its own responses, more or less original, to the questions raised by an aspect. There is no magic formula. Through using the R.E.T. and the Theory of Ages and combining logic, observation and imagination, you will be able to develop a thousand other possible meanings, a thousand other variations on the same theme.

Dissonant Mercury-Moon aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Moon ‘p’ ↔ Mercury ‘tR’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : you are characterized, among other things, by a bulimic and insatiable curiosity which seems to leave no trace in your memory. Gossip, communication can be an opportunity or a pretext for you to escape an intimate life whose serene and silent tranquility you dread. Unfit yourself for quiet abandon, for quiet receptivity, you may be tempted to disturb any homogeneous group by accumulating off-topic “outings”, sometimes comical, sometimes critical, often painful for an entourage who has only make your insignificant pirouettes. You advance in scattered order, without knowing what you want, in perfect incoherence and disharmony. The routines of daily life or thought bother you : you do or say anything to distract yourself from them, to escape them. You make the ephemeral your bed and forget to sleep in it.

Dissonant Mercury-Sun aspect (conjunction)

Sun ‘rR’ ↔ Mercury ‘tR’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : being multifaceted, you are unable to stick to a definitive choice, decision, orientation or point of view. Relaxed and casual, you scatter to the four winds of your many unrealistic projects, your many unimportant and inconsequential encounters. You constantly need the never-seen, the unexpected, and your unstable and bouncy curiosity prohibits you from any consistency whatsoever. You do not involve yourself in his words or opinions : you speak for the pleasure of communicating, without worrying about deepening or giving meaning to your chatter. You fear above all the blinders of the acquired, the straightjacket of the definitive, the prison of constant convictions. To preserve unconstrained freedom, you manage to avoid all responsibility, making fun of people who are too serious as you pass.

Dissonant Mercury-Venus aspect (conjunction, semi-square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Venus ‘eR’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : too mobile, too unstable, too dispersed, you are unable to attach yourself permanently to someone or something. Supporter of a freedom without goal and without constraints, you fear above all to find yourself prisoner of a privileged relationship based on emotions and shared sensations. So you prefer to multiply anecdotal meetings, without consequences or tomorrow, rather than having to let express the impulses of your heart, which you have a rather dry. You took refuge in abstractions, futilities, irony or puns to resist the call of the senses, the temptation to fall in love. You don’t take any affective ties seriously : feelings are just an entertaining pantomime for you. You mock the delicate aesthetic perceptions and multiply the annoyances rather than agreeing to show your tenderness.

Dissonant Mercury-Mars aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Mars ‘eE’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : you are an authentic specialist in objectless curiosities, multiple unrealistic or unachievable projects, gossip sheltered from the test of facts and far from any tangible reality. You communicate to say nothing, and preferably nothing materially real. You prefer having fun, distracting yourself and getting drunk on futile novelties rather than getting your hands dirty and physically investing yourself in sustained activity. With a cunning, a mobility and a skill that badly mask your lack of courage, you flee direct confrontations, face-to-face meetings where the game is no longer appropriate, bitter struggles where there is only make stuns and unstable spinners. You do nothing and do not hesitate to be ironic about those who toil. Your fertile imagination considers itself dispensed with any practical spirit and any desire to achieve.

Dissonant Mercury-Jupiter aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Jupiter ‘rE’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : whimsical, dispersed or inconsistent, you challenge or refuse any reasonable standard, any sensible judgment, any object lesson. You talk to say nothing, and above all nothing important, official, solemn. You make fun of what seems important to others or strikes at the corner of common sense, make fun of the elementary rules of life in good society. Your verbose imagination develops against your interests and material ambitions. You ask yourself a thousand questions without being able to bring them any pragmatic conclusion. You distract yourself too easily from heavy social obligations and prefer to clown around or be dazed rather than assume the agreed role that is expected of you. Irresponsible, you do not take any conformism seriously, which not only is not appropriate, but also prevents anyone from placing the slightest trust in you.

Dissonant Mercury-Saturn aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Saturn ‘tE’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : inconsistent, relaxed, dispersed, you sin by lightness, by lack of deep roots in lived experience. Your jumping and unbridled imagination is exercised to the detriment of all logic and all analytical rigour. You find a thousand reasons to distract yourself in the anecdotal, the futile and the inessential to escape heavy and austere reflections, melancholy, necessary chores, thankless responsibilities. You deal overhand with the serious and dark problems of existence, which are just a game for you. Your unbridled humor transforms drama into comedy. You speak to say nothing deep, change your mind like a shirt without digging into your experiences to base your opinions. You speculate on empty, launch a thousand imprudent, preposterous or perfectly pointless hypotheses without thinking of deepening them.

Dissonant Mercury-Uranus aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Uranus ‘rT’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : you are incapable of channeling the clutter of your scattered ideas into a clear, organized, hierarchical intellectual construction. You claim the freedom to change views and opinions to the detriment of any deeply held and powerfully structured beliefs. Your unstable, messy and scattered curiosity prevents you from concentrating, from focusing your cerebral faculties on specific subjects. You flee in distraction, inconsequential chatter or in a thousand eccentric projects the radical and energetic decisions that are essential. Allergic to the spirit of the system and to discipline, you do not understand that the unconstrained freedom to which you are attached prohibits you from all creative independence. At worst, you behave like an amusing weakling troublemaker, incapable of imposing a stable and intransigent will.

Dissonant Mercury-Neptune aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Neptune ‘eT’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : you spend your time indulging in a thousand hazardous speculations, idle hypotheses and messy investigations. You blithely confuse the wanderings of your overly prolix imagination with the sure revelations of the unconscious. Unstable, dispersed, without a point of fixation, you lack clairvoyance and do not take into account the demands of your deep sensitivity, the demands of your instinct, the warnings of your intuition. You clown around to ward off the moods that bother him, multiply encounters and futile or anecdotal curiosities to avoid having to face the murmurs and rumblings of your heart, which you stubbornly refuse to take seriously. You have fun or are stupidly ironic about the manifestations of the strange, the paradoxes of life, the inexplicable phenomena that you take for artifice, which does not prevent you from telling nonsense.

Dissonant Mercury-Pluto aspect (conjunction, opposition, square)

Mercury ‘tR’ ↔ Pluto ‘tT’ Conjunction (consonant or dissonant aspect) Opposition (dissonant aspect) Square (dissonant aspect)

If and when Mercury dominates : through your gossip, your fantasies, your games and inconsequential curiosities, you seek to forget that reality is a dense and impenetrable mystery, without being able to quite achieve it. The unknown, the secret and the hidden fascinate you and worry you at the same time. With joyous desperation and black humor, you spend your time asking a thousand questions, impertinent in every sense of the word, which you know very well, deep down, that they will not have and do not deserve an answer. You get lost and crumble in the endless maze of your unrealistic speculations. You are afraid of behind the scenes that your wild curiosity risks at any time, and as in spite of yourself, to make you discover. Believing to flush out the mystery, you are in fact the hostage of your imagination. You are an expert in nonsense and other nonsense, in whom dark ulterior motives interfere with communication.

Les significations planétaires

par Richard Pellard

620 pages.
